I don't know why the innocents fall
While the monsters stand
I don't know why the little ones thirst
But I know the last shall be first - Flags by Brooke Fraser
Lately I've been having a number of conversations about why suffering happens. While discussing this I continue to come to the conclusion that I have no idea. All I can do is remind myself and others of the promises God has for us. Not promises that life won't hurt or that pain wont happen we live in a world of turmoil. John 16:33 says "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world"
It is clear this world will bring trouble but also that we have hope in Christ. The very promises of Christ are what we can hold onto in remembrance of the day where we will no longer suffer.
"Looking at his disciples, he said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh. Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil because of the Son of Man". - Luke 6:22.
