Yesterday was the big day... the Board of Governors meeting. Me and Robbie had been preparing our presentation all week. We went in a little early and placed our handout on the top of every one's pile, this way they would be sure to read it. Student Life got to start the day off which means we had the chance to set the tone for the day. Student Council (Robbie & I) spoke for less than 3 minutes but we knew we wanted to make it count, show that students are important and know that we care. We talk to them about the survey we did a few months ago and the idea of our school being a school where God moves. We also talked about our theme and how it is not just for us as students but staff/faculty and board members. Some key lines from our presentation were...
"The idea of full stride is that as Christians and members of the EBC body we do not dwell in mediocrity but strive for God's glory". and "No matter whether we have fifty students or five thousand, Emmanuel needs to be a place where students come seeking God and leave with a better understanding of who He is and how to do His work in the world".
Although it seemed like our message was well received, I'm not sure if it will spark action. We had a few people say that they were very impressed, and hopefully this means that our message was not soon forgotten when push comes to shove and decision are being made. It was very interesting to be a part of the meeting and see different decisions unfold and my prayer is that they continue to seek God on where to go with EBC from here and that they see that our heart as students is to be in line with the heart of God.
